Group golf breaks in Portugal

Portugal is one of the number one golf destinations in the world. There are coastal courses with dramatic cliff side greens as well as fantastic courses that meander through the foothills of the Sintra Mountains..  The constant sunshine provides a wonderful environment for playing golf.  The Algarve is the main area for golf but there are some other fantastic golf hot spots in Portugal.  The Lisbon and Porto areas provide great golf, matched with great value, and undeniably great wine.

With so much choice you will not be disappointed.

Vila Sol

This is one of the must play courses if you are staying in the Vilamoura.  The course has a variety of holes, is flanked with superb pine trees and has a smattering of water hazards thrown in for good measure.

The last hole, coming in to a narrow green to the club house is a daunting little finish.

Silves Golf

Silves, in the foothills of the Monchique mountain, is a wonderful location for a golf course.  It is a tough track, the first shot, a drive,  has to flirt with water hazards on both flanks.

Players of all abilities will enjoy this challenge.  This is a very scenic course, most holes offer spectacular mountain views overlooking palm trees and olive groves, the surrounding cork and citrus farms generate a true feeling of authentic Portuguese golf.

Alto Golf

This is a fantastic golf course, it features the 600 meter par 5 known as the “Sir Henry challenge”, and what a challenge it is!  That is a long hole!

Pestana Alto is a well designed course which is playable for all.  it was designed to be a challenge with playability for all handicap levels.

This is certainly a thinking man or woman’s course.
