Quinta do Peru

Quinta do Peru is situated in a perfect location sitting only 30 minutes from Lisbon. Quinta do Peru Golf & Country Club is surrounded by a Natural Park and is always rated among the top courses in Europe.

Its a great test of golf, 6,640-yard, playable for both professionals and amateurs alike, it will test your golfing skills.

Oitavos Dunes GC

Dramatic, a very good word to describe this golf course. Holes looking out on to the Atlantic and parts of the course having a bit of a links feel about it.

The course is always highly ranked in both Europe and the world and has hosted some prestigious tournaments.

The clubhouse, which has always been stand out, a fantastic glass building has been joined by an amazing hotel so the opportunity to stay and play at Oitavos Dunes is always an option.

Aroeira 1

Described when it was designed back in 1973 as the Wentworth of Portugal.

Set in a wonderful protected woodland there are two courses on sight, the second aptly named Aroeira 2!

The fairways wind there way through pine tree alleyways which I can assure you means you have to be accurate.

The course has hosted the Portuguese Open on a few occasions as well as numerous LET tour events and is in the top 100 courses in continental Europe.

West Cliffs

West Cliffs is the new kid on the block in the Lisbon area.

West Cliff was added to the Praia Del Rey resort and what a fantastic addition. This seaside links course has had nothing but plaudits since it opened.

It’s been said in some quarters that West Cliffs is the best course in Portugal!

Well only way to find out is to go yourself! It will be a joy to make your decision.

The beauty of the courses in the Lisbon area is they are busy but it's not like the Algarve. You feel more relaxed and ready to enjoy your golf.

There is such a diversity of courses in the area, links style courses, Pine lined courses that you have to be extremely accurate on. You will enjoy them all.

The standard of the courses is very high with number of them holding top class professional tournaments.

Dress Code

As everywhere in Portugal there is a relaxed feel at the golf courses, restaurants and hotels. It really is as smart as you want to be.

Golf courses are the usual smart attire to match the etiquette of the game.

Food & Drink

Lisbon and the surrounding area is a great place to find authentic Portuguese food.

Lots of fish, sardines, pork and clam dishes. Rice balls with fish. Yes if you like fish you will like Portuguese food.

This 4* hotel is set in a fantastic location, right by the Ocean edge and metres from the beach.

The hotel sits on the Setubal peninsula with mountains and sea meeting each other.

The restaurant looks on to the ocean from where you can hear the waves whilst eating your meal, a wonderful thing to do.

Situated in the lovely town of Cascais the Grande Real Villa Italia is certainly a wonderful 5* accommodation with lots of history.

This used to be the home of King Humberto II, the last King of Italy apparently before a vote to turn it into a Republic!

Wonderful local food is on offer throughout the day at the hotel.

So close to Cascais and plenty of golf courses this is a perfect luxury retreat to relax and enjoy the warm Atlantic coast.

When is the best time to visit the Lisbon Area?

February to mid November is a good time to visit the Lisbon area for golf. It never gets too warm to play golf.

 

Is there a language barrier in Portugal?

No, but it is always best to at least know the basics of the local language to help you on your way.

What is the temperature in the Lisbon area?

The temperature in February is 16 degs and November it is 18 degs. In between the average temperature in the summer months is 28 degs.

Perfect temperatures for golf and a winter getaway.

 

Do you need a visa to enter Portugal?

With the changes that are coming post 31st December 2020 please seek advice prior to entering any part of Europe.

What is the flight time to Lisbon?

The average direct flight time to Lisbon is approximately 2 hour 30 minutes, making it a perfect short break destination for golf.
