Ganton Golf Club

In the worlds top 80 golf courses, hosted The Ryder Cup, Walker Cup and the Curtis Cup. One more name, The Brabazon Trophy, acclaimed to be the best Amateur tournament in the world has been held here and will be again in 2021.

Need we say any more.

This is a stunning inland links course. So good that Gary Player said it is the only inland links course worthy of holding The Open, a true accolade.

You will not be disappointed here, Ganton is renowned around the world.

Moortown Golf Club

The first golf course in the UK to host The Ryder Cup, 1929 to be precise. Some big names have won amateur tournaments here, including Sir Nick Faldo and Bernard Gallagher.

So again this course has plenty of pedigree and history and is definitely one to play and tick off.

Alister MacKenzie was the course architect, known for his work around the world including Augusta National.

You will be stepping on to a course with amazing history, certainly one to remember.

Lindrick Golf Club

Lindrick Golf Club lies in Yorkshire, just, though it’s postal town Worksop is in Nottinghamshire.

So it is great to have a trilogy of amazing courses in the county that has staged The Ryder Cup.

Lindrick staged The Ryder Cup in 1957 and guess what, GB&I as it was then WON, for the first time since 1933. Peter Allis was in the 1957 team.

It was though another 28 years, 1985 until they won it again, this time as Europe.

The course has that inland links feel, with gorse bushes to avoid.

Always ranked in the top 100 courses in England and the par 3 17th has been voted in the worlds best top 500 holes. That is an accolade to be proud of.

The Ryder Cup Vacation

Three quite breath-taking courses all with so much tradition.

Play them in three consecutive days and you will have a ball.

So many options on where to stay, whether it be in a city, Leeds or York, or indeed more rural and tranquil, the choice is yours.

You really are walking down the fairways of historic English golf when you play these courses.

You could certainly extend your stay in the area to play other wonderful courses like Fulford in York, home to the Benson & Hedges International Open. Those with a long memory will remember this course as the one that Bernhard Langer climbed a tree to play his shot, or indeed Alwoodley in Leeds is another wonderful course that will live long in the memory.

What golf tourists should expect when playing golf in England

Well Maintained golf courses

The golf courses that Dream Golf Holidays presents in England are always in great condition. The quality of the courses, the maintenance is reflected in the care, standards and all round level of service these courses provide.

Golf Etiquette

The courses we choose are in the main extremely traditional and hold onto the virtues of golf. So always check dress codes both on and off the course to ensure you have a wonderful day that isn’t spoilt by the breach of a local course or clubhouse rule.

Caddies - Certainly at The Royals

Caddies are not prevalent on all golf courses like in some countries. Certainly at the higher end courses you will be able to hire caddies who will enhance your experience and enjoyment.

Golf in some of the Country’s hotspots

Moving away from the usual suspects of the well known resorts it is always good to seek out some of the excellent traditional golf courses up and down the land, play 2 or 3 of these in a particular area, we will bring forward some great accommodation and there you have it a great few days away. Pick your area and we will do the rest.

You have the Royal (St Georges) at your disposal if you really want to hit the heights and then surrounding this amazing course is a multitude of other fantastic, big hitting courses such as Princes, Royal Cinque Ports.

Then some really great gems like Littlestone, Knole Park and Wildernesse.

The selection is wide and varied with a lot of the old course designers having their mark in this area.

Lamberhurst, Langley Park and Walmer & Kingsdown certainly fit in to that category.

Nottingham

Nottingham has some wonderful classic courses for us to indulge ourselves in. A stay and play trip in the area will really test your golfing prowess.

Notts (Hollinwell) is a wonderful course, full of history and romanticism with Robin Hood high on the agenda.

Sherwood Forest and Coxmoor both have the feel of Hollinwell and will provide a high amount of golf enjoyment.
