What if we can’t get abroad?

As Matt Hancock says ‘well that’s a great question!’ So what if we cant and it is still a little up in the air for the start of the golf season, well we need to look inward to the wonderful golf resorts, golf courses and hotels on our own shores.

There are some great, extremely reasonable options at golf resorts with the Sunday/Monday driver deals excellent value.

Or look at some of the higher end courses that you have always wanted to play but never got around to it, you can see some of those on the website.

We also have some really exciting off the beaten track options in England and Wales to consider as a different option.

Have a look below at some of the varied options you have across the country. There are plenty more so if you want us to get a great price for you just let us know when and where you want to go.

Forest Pines

Three loops of 9, 27 holes in total Forest Pines makes a great short break resort. It was voted in 2018 Today's Golfer 'Best Golf Course in the East of England'. Whenever I have played there the courses have been in immaculate condition despite the traffic that goes through them. It is a real test of golf. The green complexes are very good. You will really enjoy the golf, I always get the feeling of being on a Portuguese course when playing at Forest Pines.

There is a great 19th hole here and the hotel is of a very good standard. When Hull played in the Premiership most of the teams stayed here when playing them, so it can’t be too shabby can it!

Wychwood Park

This was a very go to place of mine in the early golfing days with a society I am involved with. Some great memories from here. Only one course here but what a beauty. The course is used extensively on the Europro Tour so you know you are going to get a good standard of course.

It is difficult, well for the average golfer anyway, a real eclectic mix of holes with there different challenges. You have to concentrate around here to score well as there are lots of hazards to contend with, highly recommend this place for a few days away. The 19th looks out onto the 9th & 18th greens so plenty to watch after your round.

Belton Woods

Situated near Grantham Lincolnshire the resort boasts to enjoyable courses, they a different in how they play which is always good for the variety.

It is the only resort of it’s kind in Lincolnshire, so if you fancy visiting the area this is the place to go.

The Lakes course as you would presume has plenty of water hazards and a daunting final shot over water to the 18th with all your mates watching is a real knee knocker. Always one to test how good your swing is!

The Woodside, again a clue in the name meanders through tree lined fairways, woods and copses. Play this course with great course management and you will score well. There are a number of pot bunkers on the course now to catch you out, so watch out!!

Rockliffe Hall

This is a big grown up golf course, long, difficult greens and exposed, so if there is a wind you really feel it. It is a great test of golf. Just one course but extremely enjoyable. I played this course in the Trilby tour off back pots and 3/4 handicap, enjoyably beat me up!!

The clubhouse restaurant is excellent and the hotel and surrounding properties are excellent, top notch.

Definitely one to tick off.

The Belfry

The flagship of all resorts, this is an amazing place for golfers, so much Ryder Cup history. Three courses, the Derby, a decent filler, the PGA, a really strong links style course and The Brabazon, famous around the world with that daunting second shot in to the last of the lake. Quite an amazing set up.

If you haven’t played here get yourself there for the experience. You will thoroughly enjoy.

Celtic Manor

Another Ryder Cup venue, Celtic Manor, the 2020 course was the scene of the mud bath, leaky American waterproofs and a great Monday finish.

The 2020 is extremely enjoyable though you can see it was set up for the pro’s, the run offs, difficult greens etc. The Montgomerie course meanders around the hills above the 2020 course where you get a great view of the 2020. The Montgomerie is really enjoyable to play. The third course is the Roman Road which I haven’t played but you certainly have plenty of choice at this resort.

Slaley Hall

Set in the wonderful Northumberland countryside Slaley Hall itself is a magnificent imposing building, the two courses surrounding the hall make for a thoroughly enjoyable break.

The Priestman course meanders away from the Hall and provides a stern test of golf, the Hunting Course though is a real tough nut to crack. Very well designed, lots of variety and hazards to overcome. You need your A game here to score well.

Slaley Hall makes for a very enjoyable golf break.

The Mere

Again a wonderful old building is the site for the hotel which is of a high standard. There is just one course at the resort and it is a really good one. Some great green complexes here to test your putting skills, lots of variety and a really peaceful place to play your golf. The location is Cheshire so easy to get to with the motorway networks.
