If you want a golf course with amazing views then this course is for you. Surrounded by hills, plantations and overlooking the Victoria Reservoir you are in a setting that would be hard to find anywhere else in the world.
A perfect exotic setting to play golf. This is a spectacular golf course, one that has been crafted in to the landscape and has sweeping fairways, magnificently set up and maintained.
It is a long course, just short of 7000 yards so it is going to test us mere mortal golfers.
Nuwara Eliya Golf
As one of the oldest golf courses in Asia The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club is full of history, tradition and a real sense of the past.
The course was developed originally for the British tea planters. The course and clubhouse still has the feel of those colonial days.
Large eucalyptus and cypress trees line the fairways. Interspersed with water hazards lots of undulations and hills you will need to be straight and on the fairways to score well around here.
This course, clubhouse and surroundings is different, a throwback in history mixed with a modern element as well.
Shangri-La’s Golf & Country Club in Hambantotais
The Shangri-La’s Golf & Country Club in Hambantotais the first resort course on the island.
The course is built on a coconut plantation, the palms enhance the spectacular views of the Ocean.
The course changes throughout the 18 holes. there is the dunes area with changes to elevation and stance, the ocean views where you have to keep your concentration, your really are in an idyllic place here and then the Sapphire Mine area with water hazards and large greens.

The Water Garden Sigiriya is situated in the Cultural triangle where the hotel sits on the ancient water garden with views of the Sigiriya Rock, an ancient rock fortress which you just have to climb, though it could take 2-3 hours to do so! The rock is called Lion rock as you can see from the photo in the itinerary. Such an amazing sight to see.

When is the best time to visit Sri Lanka for golf?
Though a small island Sri Lanka has a wide variety of weaqther at any one time, depending where you are on the island. Two monsoons hit the island every year, one in the North East of the island, this can affect the whole of the island. The south west monsoon is more dedicated to the south and west and the high hills.
Irrespective of rainfall the coastal temperature stays around 25 degrees, the hills definitely a little cooler.
So the best time to visit the south and west coasts is between December to April. On the east coast the best time is May to October.
